It might be cliche and difficult to understand, but I experienced a strong tug at my heart to move to Nashville instead, to SING and pursue my dreams of being a country artist. Two weeks before my white coat ceremony, I declined my acceptance and made the big move to the place I now call home.
I have been singing since I can remember and putting on those incredibly embarrassing (but pretty kick-ass) concerts in my basement for family and friends. I grew up listening to country music and falling in love with the amazing queens of country music: Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, Shania Twain, Miranda Lambert, and Carrie Underwood. The careers of these strong and beautiful women in country music have inspired me to no end and don’t even get me started on their vocals because WOW. The songs of country music, the stories, and the raw emotion portrayed in a good country song is unlike anything you will ever hear or experience. That is why my heart lies in country music.
My deepest passion is to give people a voice through my songs, their own 3 minutes where they can get emotional and cry, or raise their drinks in solidarity with those around them. Going into writes, I always strive to write about reality and the fact that life is hard, confusing, and unfair sometimes. But, I am a big believer in searching for that LIGHT in the darkness, God’s promise to take care of whatever tomorrow brings our way. I want to empower those around me to LIVE THEIR BEST LIVES and to stop holding themselves back from chasing their dreams. I gave up medical school for this crazy, insane dream to sing and make GREAT music. I used to think music was only an intangible form of healing, but I have come to realize that it takes on a special, tangible form of healing, one that medicine cannot offer; and to be behind the creation of that is the most incredible thing I have ever been a part of.
Thank you for being my inspiration, all of YOU who love, comment, like, share, pre-save, and pre-order my music and come out to shows. I pray that you always find yourself in my music. If you have been a trooper and read up to this point, THANK YOU so much for following my career and for taking time out of your day to learn more about me, my life, and my music. Let’s make it happen. GOD BLESS!
